“I Have Lost Over a Million Dalasis,”: Tears as Brikama Vendors Left Scooping Gutter Water to Put out Fire Outbreak

Shop owners at Brikama market are left devastated over today’s fire outbreak.

Residents around the area were woken up by thick smoke as dozens rushed to put out the inferno.

With water not readily available on time, residents scooped gutter water resulting from rain in recent days to put out the blaze.

Over thirty-five shops have been raised to the ground rendering their owners devastated.

“I have lost over a million dalasis in my shop. I was only here on yesterday but now this is what happened and this is how Allah ordained it and He can bring in something better than this,” Bambo Tunkara said.

“It’s disheartening. We have been here for over ten years struggling,” Abdoulie Jallow , another victim said.

Cause of the fire is known yet but all directions point to an electrical spark, according to witnesses.

The Brikama market has been repeatedly engulfed by inferno previously.
