Essa Faal Donates D35K to Cause Combating Hunger among Gambians During Coronvirus Crisis

TRRC’s lead counsel Essa Faal today gifted D35,000 to a cause out to eliminate hunger during what is tough times for Gambians in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

The international lawyer, who shot to fame to majority Gambians at the commission investigating rights abuses during former president Yahya Jammeh’s time, was out today fronting a crusade to feed families as the country battles the much feared coronavirus.

Faal doled out D35,000 in a fund-raiser staged by Gambians abroad , an undertaking that has raked up over D300,000 mostly from diaspora compatriots.

The aforesaid sum is to be used to purchase food items for onward distributions to the poor and vulnerable.

The attorney , according to one of the organisers, also helped negotiate for the acquisition of the goods at a good discount before footing the bill for transportation.

This is not the first time Essa Faal is helping out after gifting a piece of land to the famous Mafugi Sonko a victim of the November 11 attack perpetrated by the 1994 junta.

Gambia has just a single positive covid-19 case to contend with for now after two patients got cleared of the pandemic today and are back with their families.
