BREAKING NEWS: Gambian Leagues to be Nullified If ……..

There will be no league champions this season if parliament goes ahead to extend the current state of emergency.

A sitting by legislators will begin today running through to Wednesday next week in which they’re expected to further prolong restrictions.

Gambia have a total 23 confirmed cases with twelve active. Miraculously, there were no positive cases today – a huge sigh of relief for a nation that has been accumulating almost each case at the passing of each day since last week.

Any extension decision taken by lawmakers will sure have a knock-on effect on teams competing in the Gambian league.

Meaning, there will be no promotions or relegations across the leagues -1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions with everything to be nullified.

This decision, announced by the Gambia football governing body, followed a meeting between the GFF and domestic club top dogs.

Should football go on to resume across Africa with the gff leagues scrapped, current table topping Real de Banjul and second-placed Armed Forces will go ahead to represent Gambia in the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

If, however, parliament decides against extending the state of emergency, then leagues resume June to August according the GFF while the Nawettans are to be done in September.
