Gambia to Trial 221 People for Breaking Curfew

At least 221 people are due to face the courts for breaking an ongoing curfew in The Gambia.

President Barrow passed an order for a 21-day curfew be observed between the hours 10pm to 5:00 am.

Police are the security apparatus detailed to ensure implementation of the laws and arrest those flouting with the rules.

In between the times the curfew is to be observed, some individuals were found loitering and consequently in police net.

Below is breakdown of people apprehended and at the regions of arrest.

“Banjul 23, Anti Crime Unit 38, Kanifing 11, Bundung- Talinding 10, Brikama 37, PIU 33, CRR 20 Basse 31 and TSU 18,” a dispatch from the police reveal.

Efforts are being made to have them trialed amid heightening fears with the covid-19 killing at least 32 people.
