Minister Bah on Borders Closure: “Soon You Will Hear Something on Friday”

Tourism minister Hamat Bah hints of a possible action to be taken by government over the closure of Gambia’s borders.

Gambia frontiers are under lockdown over the pandemic coronavirus.

There are only five existing cases of the ailment of twenty-five announced scenarios.

Gambians based abroad are still being allowed into the country on the condition they’re quarantined.

There have been fresh calls for an ease on the lock down after it emerged some advanced nations are considering re-opening and forging ahead despite covid-19’s presence.

And responding, Hamat Bah said minutes ago: “No amount of social media , no amount of information will detract this ministry to act against the interest of Gambian people. If they (tourists) want to come let them come, so we can quarantine them but we cannot risk health of our people.”

Speaking on ramifications of the covid, Bah revealed government has downsized its employment roster, dilvulging plans are being devised to restructure Gambia Tourism Board.
