After 3 Sittings, David Colley Finally Confesses to Witnessing Torture of Prisoners

Former correction centre supremo David Colley has conceded to witnessing the torture of prisoners in an epic twist of a marathon testimony

Colley had initially repudiated allegations of torture and rights violations of prisoners during his more than two decades reign as prisons boss under ex-president Jammeh.

Considered the most difficult witness to appear before Gambia’s ongoing truth commission, David today accepted responsibility of witnessing torture of inmates after a close to an hour’s debate with star counsel Essa Faal.

When the subject turned to torture, David previously positioned himself in his office, claiming he was busy but dramatically turned around to reveal he heard shouts of prisoners in agony from behind his complex being administered twelve lashes by wardens.

“This is a new David Colley. David you have confessed to torture finally,” Faal enquired, to which the witness replied: “Yes but I said it before.”
