“Sack Him,” Gambians Demand Axing of Police Boss Accused of Several Tortures

Under-fire Gorrgi Mboob’s future at the police department is hanging on a thin thread as Gambians demand for his sacking.

Calls for Mboob be wielded the axe followed a detainee’s claim he was tortured and slammed with a hoe on his private parts by Mboob.

The aforesaid police anti-crime boss has been trending since Friday amid allegations of torture.

Gorrgi, whose residence was set alight by violent youth for the death of a market vendor last year, is alleged to have attacked his victim Ebrima Sanneh.

Hours after the news came out, the police issued a dispatch repudiating the claims before Sanneh’s mum came out revealing she was dashed D1,000 by the embattled police chief in compensation for the torture meted out on to her son.

Since then, there have been calls as Gambians react angrily demanding Gorrgi’s dismissal immediately.

“This police officer should be charged immediately,” John Afra said, before Muhammed Lamin addd: “Goorgi Mboob must be stopped. Let the authorities step in to stop him or else the youth will do. It’s enough, we’ve had enough of this nonsense.”

Kawsu Darry argued: “He should be suspended indefinitely while the cases are being looked into.”

Abu Maryam Camara Danso chipped in: “A Criminal only under clueless and heartless president he can serve as an Anti-Crime Chief.”

Police’s IGP is intent on staging a press conference tomorrow to tell their side of the narrative.
