Track and field queen Gina Bass looks bound to pick the woman-of the-year prize of the FatuNetwork Heroes’ Awards, Gambia News can report.
The 24-year-old has had brilliant outings both last year and this term.
She not only stepped up but shrugged off competition from serial continental queen Talou as she beat the Ivorian to become Africa’s finest 200m athlete.
Bass got gifted title deeds including her police rank upped in appreciation of her exploits.
Certainly not resting on her laurels, Gina picked the top spot in the recent 60m dash held in Germany, breaking a national record in the process.
Bass is vying for the gong with Banjul’s mayoress Rohey Malick Lowe, Aji Kumba Daffeh and Nyimasata Camara with the athlete clearly more of a favourite to land the silverware in awards billed for this month.
