Banjul mayoress Rohey Malick Lowe reveals she has no powers to stop a ferry or order closure of the bridge as coronavirus fears hover, Gambia News can report.
However, Lowe says she has been in touch with stakeholders and their talks led to cancellation of the Naycof.
“I have been receiving lots of calls from Gambians and it’s impressive that everyone is concerned about the coronavirus.
“However, I do not have powers to close the bridge or stop a ferry or close the ports but I have been in consultations constantly with the relevant stakeholders regarding health of the capital. It’s such discussions which led to postponement of the Naycof,’ she said
