ST Brikama Boyo insists rapping in Mandinka shouldn’t be an issue to anyone.
Based in Brikama, the multiple-time award-winning singer is well listened to across the country.
However, there is still some debate over why he should be singing in Mandinka alone.
Late last year, a reporter got roasted for posing a similar question amid trolling online.
And posed the question today, ST gave it a telling deliberation.
“Rapping in Mandinka shouldn’t be a problem. I am proud of who I am, where I am from. I feel through the local language, I can reach more people compared to Me rapping in English. I represent every body: the local people, the poor people and being the voice of the voiceless. There is no problem in appreciating yourself to the maximum level, Actually you will be surprised my first songs were all rapping in English. Actually i had a 17 track -mixtape all done in English,” he said.
Hampered by the lock down like all other artistes, ST’s last release was Sunkang.
