ST Brikama Boyo reveals the screams of supporters at events before he hits the stage gingers him up.
The West Coast Region-based outfit is a regular at the Gambia’s music festival dubbed openmicfest. Boasting a legion of fans across the country, his presence is expected to beef up the organisers’ purse.
The independence Stadium remains the venue with a raft of other singers some of them prominent on the line up of those to hit the stage.
The last year’s event was marred by tragedy of a fan’s demise after a wall collapse on him sparked by a stampede. This aside, the event was also rocked by low turnout over the duration of the openmic.
However, this term’s promises to different with ST one of those on the brand again. and speaking ahead this December’s showdown, ST says he is always fired up by screams from the backstage.
“The openmic for me it’s inspiration itself. I get my energy from people. Mostly people are already hyped because they know when the bomb drops they’re gonna see what they expect,” he said.
