Latest patient to die of coronavirus in The Gambia escaped quarantine, it has emerged.
The patient who has not been identified yet is believed to a marabout who sneaked in through Gambia’s borders from Senegal.
He was taken into custody upon arrival but inexplicably escaped the centre to run to Manjai Kunda where he lived at least before his sudden demise.
A statement related to the death from government yesterday merely confirmed the passing but failed short of mentioning how he escaped.
This is the second death confirmed of coronavirus in The Gambia since the first in March.
