“I Sold My TV and Used the Money for My Single,” O-Boy on His Tough Music Journey

Virtually every celebrity had had a humble beginning and O-Boy is no exception.

Christened Omar Conteh, O revealed the tough roads he trod one of which involved having to cash in on his Tv set to help fund a music single project he has started.

Unlike majority singers, the talented Afro-manding star walked in to the studios by accident after he had gone to see off fellow comedian Kitabu who was intent on recording.

Few sessions there, sparked his affection for the trade which today is not only a means of livelihood but an obsession.

“I sold my Tv set and paid Nova Sambou D3,000 for recording. Later We made a video and everything fell in place.

“Next, I launched the song and it yielded me some money which I used to by a Benz for my private ride. Next, people began booking me. I’m the type who goes for whatever he plans for,” Oboy said, laughing at recollection of his journey during an interview with Sally Tizzy.

Omar and Gambian Child are this minute Gambia’s most famous singers and attract at least more a million views each track on YouTube.
