A vessel is in custody of Gambian authorities following its arrest for illegal fishing.
Named Sara, the vessel was swooped in on by Gambia’s navy squad five miles from shore at the Bijilo island.
Upon being halted and searched, it was found out the nets they were using tallied with acceptable net sizes stated by regulations but were still arrested for encroachment.
Punitive measures is expected to be instituted which could take the form of a fine.
