Sheriff Sinyan is just two stages away from entering history book of Gambians to have played in the Uefa Champions League.
A defender-cum combative play middle-man, Sheriff was on show again tonight featuring for former Norwegian Premier League champions Molde FK.
The Scandinavian outfit were locking horns with Slovenian top division side Celje. The fixture was a second round Champions League qualifier.
Lotric opened the scoring for the Slovenians in the 38th minute before Sheriff’s teammate Hussain equalised in the 57th minute, paving the room for Nigerian playmaker Leke Samson James to make it 2-1 in Molde’s favour.
Sinyan, also called Drogba and a Gambia international, joined the club few weeks ago from Lillestrom. If Molde now goes past the third and play-off stages, they will be assured qualification into the Champions League proper where the calibre of Real Madrid, Barcelona and newly crowned holder Bayern Munich cut it.

Ebrima Colley, Musa Barrow, Jatto Ceesay, Momodou Ceesay and Seyfo Soley are the sole Gambians to have ever starred in the European Cup.
