Optimism Still Reels despite Major Absentees for Gambia Ahead of Gabon’s Game

Gambia’s Scorpions have been lashed with major absentees after some key players pulled out of the Africa Cup of Nation’s forthcoming qualifier.

Striker Assan Ceesay of FC Zurich is one of those missing out due to new travel restrictions to players. However, few have managed coming and are looking ready for the match against Aubameyang’s Gabon.

The first leg takes place in Libreville on Thursday with some of notables still present instilling some glimmer of hope into fans of a possible win for the Scorpions.

Captain Pa Modou Jagne, Omar Colley Bubacarr Sanneh, Musa Barrow and the veteran Ebrima Sohna including Sulayman Marreh are all in ready for the fixture.

Musa Barrow is expected to lead the line of attack along with UAE-based Steve Trawally along with either Babucarr Jobe or debutant Ablie Sanyang or Ablie Jallow starring as back-ups on the wings.

Sulayman Marreh is tipped to form core of the midfield set up with Ebrima Sohna of Hellas Verona expected to field in as a supporting attacking midfielder in the absence of the injured Hamza Barry.
