“3 Related Coronavirus Deaths” Causes Barrow to Extend State of Emergency

Barrow has disregarded parliament’s rejection of an extended SOPE to announce his own extension of state of emergency.

The announcement, made an hour ago comes, a day after parliament had thrown offer to extend the SOPE to a further seven days.

The 56-year-old, however, decided to nick lawmakers 1-0 by declaring his won state of emergency lasting seven days in an unsurprising move.

Citing powers vest in him, the presidency said: “In the light of the increasing number of COIVD-19 cases and in consideration that three (3) COVID related deaths have been recorded in the country, the public is advised to take all precautionary measures to protect themselves and others in a bid to curtail the spread of COVID-19, while experts continue to monitor and assess the situation.”
