Gambians based abroad have contributed over 300, 000 dalasis to be distributed as food items to those at home.
The heart-warming gesture is in response to the current crisis enveloping owing to coronavirus that has forced most businesses to cease operations.
It followed government’s issuance of a decree demanding scaling down on business as shops go under lock down as part of a seven-day state of emergency which is to be prolonged to three months soon.

The move is part of Gambia’s desperate efforts to combat what is fast becoming a global menace affecting close to a million people worldwide.
Gambia have just four positive cases confirmed amid fears there could be more scenarios out there.
And in a bid to help ease burden on families at home as poverty hovers in the wake of the crisis, Gambians abroad thought it meaningful to contribute via a go-fund-me and facebook fees which have raised at least D319,012.

The amount will be used to purchase food items – a process that has already begun.
The cause aims to reach out to 200 families
The items include: 140 bags of rice(25Kg)
140 half-bags Onions
10 bags of sugar(50Kg)
700 sachets of Tomato (70 grams).
