
Police confirms to Gambia News of ongoing investigations over the recent arrest of three religious leaders.
Alagie Kawsu Saidykhan pictured, Karamo Camara and Yusupha Camara from Jarra Kani Kunda, Brikama Dasilameh and Brikama Sanchaba respectively were nabbed by police from breaking the announced state of emergency.
The aforesaid Islamic scholars refused to heed the president Barrow’s call leading to their apprehension.
Investigations into their cases is still ongoing confirms police spokesperson ASP Lamin Njie.
“The imams are being arrested for leading Friday prayers contrary to the emergency powers regulations. They have been granted bail while police investigations continue,” ASP Njie tells Gambia News, revealing they faced no resistance during time of effecting the arrest.
