CORONAVIRUS: Blow for Gambia as Newly Confirmed Positive Case Is a Senegalese

A new positive coronavirus case has been registered in The Gambia.

The patient is said to be a Senegalese coming as a devastating news for Gambia just when the remaining last active case was declared negative.

The new development comes out of twenty-four positive samples examined one of which turned out being carrier of the pandemic.

The latest development hits as concerns grow over Gambia’s porous borders despite a pronounced lock down on all frontiers.

“One turned out positive out of the twenty-four laboratory cases. Ten new persons have been taken into quarantine four of whom were close contacts of the newly confirmed case. Two additional low risk contacts have been traced,” Dr Mustapha Bittaye said.

Gambia number of confirmed cases now soars to eleven with one person declared dead.
