Chiefs, Alkalos Engaged in Bid to Tackle Coronavirus

Village and community heads have been involved in mounting campaign to eradicate the coronavirus pandemic.

Gambia have ten active cases following the release of a patient cleared of the virus today after recuperation in a move sending the country’s overall cases to twenty-four.

Driver of a Nigerian consul based in Guinea Bissau is the latest to be taken into quarantining after tests confirmed him carrier of the ailment following his interception at the Gambian boarders.

The pair, including the consul, have been taken into isolation after it emerged they spent about forty eight hours in Cassamance.

This followed a day after deputies failed to get the required votes to extend the current pronounced state of emergency.

And on the heels of this, community heads and alkalos , it turned out, have been engaged by government along side Action Against Hunger empowering chiefs to help in the implementation of preventive measures against the covid-19 at their level.
