One in every two Gambian tested for covid-19 is turning out positive, according to health official Dr Ismaila Ceesay.
The development followed the registration of yet another death today as the nation’s demise toll of the pandemic jumps to 16.
Panic is currently sweeping through with 136 new cases confirmed today alone, an unprecedented soaring of carrier of the illness.
Of positive is, the same number of people who were in quarantined have all recovered.
At the moment, 777 are considered active with 332 tests done today.
“42% of samples showing positive. Small sample size but those are unprecedented rates of community transmission.That is almost 1 in every 2 Gambians tested,” Covid-Gambia confirms.
