
President Adama Barrow has extended the ongoing curfew to a further 21 days.
The decision comes hours before expiry of the initially declared curfew.
“The extension includes changes to regulations on schools, places of worship and penalties for violation of night curfew,” a statement from Gambia government spokesperson Ebrahima Sankareh read.
The curfew is announced in desperate attempt to curb the surging coronavirus clocking over 2,000 cases in the country with 93 deaths most of them the elderly.
