Education Ministry Slams D35M Rumours as Fake

Gambia’s education ministry has labelled false widespread claims of a D35m allotment to the media for over-air lessons during the coronavirus crisis.

Words were bandied about that government has injected D35m to the ministry’s accounts aimed at ensuring lessons continue via radios and other media outlets during the lock down.

The reports triggered online debate prompting the ministry into summoning a briefing to rubbish the claims.

” ….we haven’t received any money from the Government. The D35 million is false,” PS Ebrima Sisawo told the local press today but revealed plans are in the cooking to set up radios across the region along with making easy access to internet in a bid to introduce distance learning.
